Could someone make a living off of writing & illustrating childrens' books?

And not just one here and there. Like, that IS your career.
How would someone start doing that?
Are they just published the same way as ordinary novels?
And what major would someone be better off getting into for that?

Eric Carle childrens book awards? Can't find what books won what awards?

I am doing an assignment for a college class on language and literacy for children. I had to choose from an author, illustrator, or topic. I have chosen an author, eric carle.

I have to choose 8 of his books to create lesson plans on and one of them must have won an award. I have to state what award the ook won and what year it was won in.

I found a huge list of awards that eric carle won but it did not specify which books won the awards.

Does anybody know of a place where I would be able to find the information I'm looking for?

okay so the author of Alice in Wonderland was on drugs and some people reckon the movie has loads of references to drugs in it.

is there are other famous childrens books or films that have references to or are influenced by drugs?

My girls were in foster care and have been adopted. My oldest B is 4 (she's been with us since 3 months) and my youngest L is almost 3 (she's been with us since 9 months). They don't remember their parents (both are drug addicts and know that if they 'clean up' they can see the girls, but it has yet to happen). The only life they know has been with us- although they remember their adoption days because they were recent.
They know they are adopted but don't quite understand it yet. B recently asked to see a picture of her in my belly (we had a biological son and she sees those pregnancy pictures). I explained to her that she didn't grow in my belly, etc.
Today she asked who's belly she grew in and why wasn't it mine. I briefly explained it (her mother was sick, etc). She looked very confused!! Of course we will keep explaining it to them when they ask.

We have a few adoption books for children, but I would like more. I want some that show other children have been adopted. Not an educational book for me, but a real children's book.
We have 'over the moon' and 'little miss spider' but all of the other ones I found were about international or infant adoptions. Does anyone know of any good ones for pre-school age??

I'm trying to start something new with my children and maybe you can help.

I'm wanting to start reading chapter books with them my children, their ages are 3 and 4 (5 in march) What kind of chapter books do you recommend? You may think that 3 and 4 are pretty young to start something like this..but i'm willing to try. If it means that i spent money on books they they'll read at a later time..so be it. I'm also wanting to find stuffed toys or figurines that may go with the books we find.
The Tale of Despereuax, has the book and the stuffed toy to go with it. What else can you recommend?
We already read. But i feel like their imaginations aren't being challenged enough. If that makes sense.

The books is about a girl who I believe is a young witch. She has a cat and lives in a dark mansion or castle. I believe her parents go out for the evening. She decides she wants to throw a play with her cat upon her parents return home. She uses two old chairs to prop clothes and make a stage. She also feeds her cat sardines that she has in her pocket.
