Where can I donate children's books in the Bronx or Westchester County?

I have a TON of childrens books that my child has outgrown. I don't want to throw them away because that would be a waste, and children that come from poor socio-economic backgrounds could certainly make good use of them.

The best answer is worth BEYOND the 10 points! It's also doing good, benefiting needy children the most.

I'm an artist and I would like to send some illustrations to a company that publishes childrens books. My website is www.9stines.com/Wanda and it has some of my designs on there. Im working on a short childrens poem and im just wondering if it would be acceptable to go "There was a king who had many many friends" because i have seen words like that used twice in other childrens books. So is it alright and would i need to put a comma between the many?

In fact, a coworker JUST told me, as well. Does anyone know how I would go about that?
I don't even know how to write a formal book. I just goof off and fold some paper in half and write silly books for friends' kids and my nephews and nieces..... The only think I know how to do is write. I don't know how to make it look good. I can't even draw! I mean - I CANNNNNNNOT draw one bit. Even my stick figures are ugly.
Wow Sally - thanks for the vote of confidence! I always go into anything that I do with a positive mind frame. Sure, there are a lot of competitors out there - but if one is positive and creative enough, they focus on SUCCESS. I have actually achieved many goals in my life that I have set - so if I decide to get serious about writing a children’s book, I’ll be able to do it and I will succeed!
No, they don't march. I would definitely not take them very seriously if they 'marched' up to me. And yes - random people have told me to write children’s books. Many random people, in fact. I have written stories and poems for work functions, senior citizen homes, children's classes, etc. Every year I am volunteered to write our annual company Christmas Story (the place I work is large). Every comment I get (from these random people) has to deal with me writing CHILDRENS books. Never have I been told to write a romance novel or anything of that nature; which is why I even came here in the first place. I figure, if all these RANDOM people in my life have told me to write children's books, I must have some talent in that field.

And YES, I have some thick skin. Being an actress, I have been rejected plenty o' times! BUT - I ALWAYS received the roles I wanted most.
